Today we were introduced to the design class that we will be working
with. I believe that it will be a great collaboration. What we saw
today was remarkable, that how could they get that out there like that,
with out a big budget affair. I thought it was cool , because i think
little gestures tend to effect people more. THey do not push it on
people or scare them as much, so they are then more open to what it is
about. Over all the ideas were great, and simply yet so effective.

Future artifact
The image i found is about a contact lens that is internet capable. I found this interesting because computers these days are getting smaller and smaller and this articles says that you are able to search the web through your contact lens.

ok sorry i posted so many links but i think this one is more along the lines of what we are looking for... in the picture it shows people sitting next to each other but communicating through virtual reality type headsets. perhaps the seemingly strange shape of the headsets isn't quite how i would picture it... but the general idea of real human disconnect is pretty clearly expressed. it seems as though people don't actually need any social skills to be socially successful recently (not that i have very many years to compare today to)... also, when people can meet online or through their virtual reality, they basically get to make themselves into what ever they'd like. our profiles on social networking sites like myspace and facebook, or the tags that represents us in blogging worlds are just single ideas of ourselves. in a sense, our created identity that we use to communicate to others around us is separating us from each other. the constant texting, emailing, and facebooking gives a sense of intimacy that we may be looking for while we sit across from each other at a table with our heads down at our own cell phones. do we love our gadgets, computers, and websites more than we spend real time with our friends and family?
Future Artifact: Cutting Board Digital Scale
We have a high tech cutting board with a marked area for weighing your ingredients as you cut them. In a totally futuristic style, the weight is written for you in electronic red ink right on the cutting board. This is a useful product for the advanced chef, or someone cooking those more difficult recipes that call for a level of precision beyond a pinch and a dash. The board is 10 inches x 15 inches and measures weight in grams.

this is a newspaper from the new york times in the year 2016, it attempts to define this concept of singularity, or the point at which our technology exceeds our ability to comprehend it. this scenario is analogous to the terminators, judgement day and rise of the machnes, or the point at which machines start thinking for themselves and make their own decisions. The article says that this day is still a few decades away if it occurs at all

All I was able to find was actually from some of the advertisements for the show Eureka, on SciFi, from their website. It is from a series of fake advertisements for non-existent products, all falling into the category of 'futuristic'. However, it does present an interesting future artifact, a window in which one can see whatever one desires to see, essentially removing the view/location element to property, limiting it instead to practical considerations, such as the convenience of the location, and so forth.

This video is so convincing! The way things are going, it won't be long before this scenario becomes a reality. I certainly wouldn't like anyone, much less my pizza guy, to know my personal information without my permission! It takes away your freedom, your individuality. :(
Artifacts from the future
